Little Venice with its balconies hanging over the sea, the Kato Mili windmills above it, Chora's white lanes with red and blue doors under cascades of bougainvillea, the sculpted whitewash of Panagia Paraportiani, and the quieter sandy bays of the north coast like Agios Sostis.

Early morning. Before the shops open and the cruise visitors arrive, Chora's lanes are freshly washed and almost private — the same light as the famous Little Venice sunset, but without the crowd. If you want the sunset anyway, your photographer will tuck you onto a quieter stretch of the waterfront.

The meltemi, the dry summer wind of the Cyclades, is part of the island — and photographers here work with it, not against it. Flowing dresses and hair in motion photograph beautifully, and on stronger days the shoot simply moves into Chora's sheltered lanes or a lee-side beach. It is worth planning hair and outfits with the wind in mind.
