Dress kids in clothes they can move and play in — the session will involve running, climbing steps and sitting on beaches. Bring a change of clothes for little ones (Greek beaches are irresistible) and comfortable shoes for cobbled lanes. The Venetian harbour with its Egyptian lighthouse — best reached along the sea wall — the pastel facades of the old port, the lanes of Topanas and the leather-workshop quarter of Tabakaria, the covered cross-shaped market, and the harbour mosque against the White Mountains on clear days.
