In Athens you might start at an Acropolis viewpoint, wander through Plaka's old streets and finish at Anafiotika's island-style houses; on Santorini your photographer will route you through Oia's quieter corners before the sunset crowds arrive. The golden rule is to coordinate without matching — complementary colors and classic styles that reflect your personality. Solid, muted tones (cream, navy, sage, terracotta) photograph beautifully against Greece's whitewashed walls, blue domes and honey-colored stone. Avoid busy patterns, large logos and neon colors. Comfortable shoes matter: Plaka's marble-smooth lanes and Santorini's caldera steps are slippery, and island paths can be uneven. Bring a second outfit for variety on longer sessions, and a light layer for breezy island evenings. Golden hour — shortly after sunrise or before sunset — gives the most flattering, warm, romantic light. In Greece, sunset ranges from around 5:30pm in winter to 8:45pm in summer, so plan accordingly. Sunset sessions on Santorini's caldera and at the Temple of Poseidon on the Athens Riviera are legendary, but they're also the busiest hours; sunrise shoots give you Oia's blue domes or the Acropolis viewpoints nearly to yourselves. Midday works too in shaded old-town lanes, but the strong Greek summer sun needs an experienced photographer. Oia's blue domes and windmills, the caldera path around Imerovigli with Skaros Rock, Ammoudi Bay's red cliffs down at the water, the quiet inland village of Pyrgos, and the Akrotiri lighthouse for open sea horizons. Sunrise, without question. Oia at dawn is nearly empty and lit in soft pink; by sunset the same lanes are shoulder to shoulder. For seasons, late April to June and September to October combine clear light and a warm sea with far thinner crowds than August.
