For summer dates on Santorini, Mykonos or Paros, book 4-8 weeks ahead — June to September is peak season and the best photographers' calendars fill early. Athens and mainland spots like Nafplio are more flexible; two to three weeks is usually enough outside of high season. If your dates are fixed (say, you're combining the shoot with a wedding scouting trip), book as soon as you know them — you can always fine-tune the time and locations later in the chat with your photographer. Yes — that's one of the most popular reasons couples book an engagement session. You receive high-resolution files with personal usage rights, perfect for printed cards, wedding websites, guest apps and social media announcements. Tell your photographer in advance that save-the-dates are the goal: they'll deliberately shoot some wider compositions with negative space for text, a mix of portrait and landscape orientations, and a few images that work at small print sizes. A Santorini blue-dome frame or the two of you dwarfed by Meteora's rock towers makes an announcement nobody forgets. Delivery is typically within days, so the cards can go out quickly.

Practically, they're the same product — same duration, same pricing from €299, same photographer pool. The difference is intent. An engagement session usually has deliverables in mind: save-the-dates, a wedding website, images that match the aesthetic of your upcoming wedding. Your photographer will plan for that — cleaner compositions, ring details, perhaps echoing the color palette of your wedding venue. A couples session is freer: it documents your trip and your relationship as they are, with more candid wandering. Photoshoots in Pelion start from €310, with one- and two-hour packages up to around €450 depending on duration and the number of edited images. Because the villages are strung along a mountain, the longer package is the practical one: it leaves time to move between a village square, a balcony view over the gulf and a cove without rushing the drive.

Makrinitsa's main square, which looks straight down over Volos and the gulf; the plane tree square at Tsagarada, where the tree is old enough that the square was laid out around it; Damouchari, a pebble cove with a ruined tower and very clear water; and Milopotamos, the beach cut in two by a rock arch. Late spring and early autumn. May and June are green and clear; September and early October keep the sea warm with softer light and far fewer people. The Aegean side is sharp and blue in the morning, while the gulf side above Makrinitsa is hazy at midday and glows in the late afternoon. Winter brings snow on the summit and closed beach tavernas.
