Professional photoshoots on Sifnos start from €279. Packages differ by duration and the number of edited photos — a one to two hour session, roughly €279 to €450, is enough to cover Kastro and the chapel below it, or to pair Apollonia's lanes with sunset at Chrysopigi. Longer bookings add a second village or a beach.

Kastro is the first choice: vaulted lanes, outside staircases and the chapel of the Seven Martyrs on its rock below the village. Chrysopigi's monastery and its little bridge come next, then the Steno lane through Apollonia and the mansions of Artemonas. Vathi's shallow bay with its pottery workshops closes the list. Your photographer will build a route that fits one drive.

Early morning and the last hour before sunset. Kastro and Chrysopigi both face east, so they glow at sunrise and stay almost empty before the swimmers arrive; Apollonia and Artemonas sit higher and open west, which makes them the evening choice. Midday sun flattens whitewash badly. May, June, September and early October give warm sea, soft light and a fraction of the August crowd.

There is no airport, so everything arrives by sea from Piraeus — roughly two hours on the high-speed catamaran, about five on the conventional ferry, with links to Milos, Serifos and Paros. Sailings thin out between November and March, so check the timetable before you fix a date. On the island a car or scooter helps: Kastro and Vathi are ten to twenty minutes from Apollonia.

Every age works — the format just adapts. First and second birthdays are cake-smash territory: short sessions, morning light, a washable location like a beach, and parents nearby with wipes and a spare outfit. Ages three to six shine in adventure formats, where the shoot is disguised as a game and the photographer is just the funny grown-up with a camera. School-age kids often love being the star of a 'magazine shoot' — give them small missions and they deliver poses you couldn't direct if you tried. From around ten, involve them in planning: kids who chose the location and their outfit cooperate at triple the rate. Whatever the age, schedule around meals and naps, and tell your Photo Greece photographer about your child's current obsessions — a dinosaur fan photographs differently from a mermaid expert.

Then the photographer stops asking for poses — that's the entire trick. Kids-specialist photographers open sessions by not photographing at all: five minutes of showing the camera, letting the child press the shutter, becoming the least threatening adult present. Then the shoot becomes a game with rules the child controls — hide behind the wall and pop out, race me to that boat, show me your monster face. Shyness reads as delicacy in photos when nobody forces eye contact with the lens; some of the most beautiful kids' portraits are of a child absorbed in shell-collecting, unaware of the camera. Parents help most by being relaxed themselves and letting the photographer set the rhythm. The 'won't pose' kid usually refuses to leave when the session ends.
