About Poros
Poros is the closest of the Saronic islands to the mainland — the channel between the town and Galatas is only a few hundred metres across, and small boats cross it all day for the price of a coffee. That channel is the island's signature frame: from the water or from the far quay, the town rises in tiers of pale ochre, white and terracotta to the clocktower on the ridge, which is a short climb through stepped lanes and the best sunset spot in town. Behind the town the island turns to pine: Love Bay is a tiny cove where the trees come down to the sand, and Russian Bay, on the north coast, keeps the arched ruins of a nineteenth-century Russian naval station on the shore. Across the water on the Peloponnese side, the lemon groves above Galatas — the Lemonodasos — climb the hillside in thousands of trees and are worth the crossing in spring, when they are in flower. Poros is about an hour from Piraeus by hydrofoil.

Top Photo Spots in Poros
The most photogenic locations for your Poros photoshoot
The clocktower above Poros town
A white tower on the crown of the hill, reached by stepped lanes, with the whole channel, the town roofs and the mainland laid out below.
Best time: Golden hour into blue hour, when the town lights come on below
Ten minutes of steep stepped lanes to the top — flat shoes and water. Small terrace, room for a handful of people. Residential route: keep the group small and quiet.
Love Bay
A tiny cove west of the town where the pine woods come down to the sand and the water shelves into flat turquoise.
Best time: Early morning or late afternoon, when the pines throw long shade on the sand
Ten minutes from town by scooter or taxi. Small and busy by mid-morning in July and August — go early or late. Uneven pine roots underfoot: flat shoes to get there.
Russian Bay
The arched ruins of a nineteenth-century Russian naval station standing in the pines on the north coast, with a shallow beach in front.
Best time: Late afternoon, when warm light gets under the arcades
Unrestored ruins, unfenced in places: do not climb the walls and mind your footing. About fifteen minutes from town by road, or a short boat hop.
The waterfront across the channel
The town seen from the water or the Galatas quay: tiers of pale ochre, white and terracotta rising to the clocktower, with masts along the front.
Best time: The last hour of light, with the town front lit from the water
Launches cross to Galatas all day in a few minutes; a hired boat gives the eye-level frame. Wind funnels down the channel — hold onto hats and check conditions before booking a boat.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a photoshoot in Poros cost?
Professional photoshoots on Poros start from €279. Packages vary by duration and the number of edited photos — one to two hours, roughly €279 to €450, covers the waterfront, the stepped lanes and the clocktower on the ridge. Love Bay, Russian Bay or a crossing to the lemon groves above Galatas needs travel time, so book the longer package.
What are the best photo spots in Poros?
The clocktower on the ridge, reached by stepped lanes, with the whole channel below it; the pastel waterfront seen from a boat or from the Galatas quay opposite; the stepped alleys behind the harbour; Love Bay, where the pines come down to the sand; and Russian Bay on the north coast, with the arched ruins of a nineteenth-century naval station on the shore.
What is the best time of day for photos in Poros?
Golden hour from the clocktower or the water. The town faces roughly south-west across the channel, so the whole pastel front lights up in the last hour and the ridge gives you the view over it. Mornings are calm and glassy for boat frames. Poros is an easy weekend hop from Athens, so Saturdays are busy from June to September; May and late September are quieter.
Can we cross to the lemon forest above Galatas during the session?
Yes, and it is a short hop: small boats shuttle across the channel to Galatas all day in a few minutes, and the lemon groves — the Lemonodasos — climb the hillside behind the village. It is a working agricultural area rather than a park, so stay on the tracks and check locally whether the path you want is open. The trees flower in spring, which is when the crossing is most worth it.
I'm shy in front of the camera — will I look awkward?
This is the single most common worry, and it disappears about ten minutes in. Our photographers work with movement-based direction rather than stiff posing: walk towards me along this lane, look back over your shoulder, fix your hair, laugh at how ridiculous that instruction sounds. Motion photographs as confidence. Nobody is asked to smoulder at the lens unprompted. Locations help too — early-morning slots mean fewer bystanders, and quiet corners of Plaka or Ano Poli feel private. Read the reviews on any Photo Greece photographer profile and you'll notice how often 'I was so nervous' ends with 'best photos of my life'.
How many photos will I receive?
A standard 60-minute session delivers 40-60+ professionally edited photos; longer sessions deliver proportionally more. Every image in your gallery is individually edited — color, light, skin tones — not a raw dump with three good frames hidden inside. Expect real variety from a single hour: wide shots that show off the location, walking shots, close portraits, and detail moments you didn't notice being taken. Delivery lands in a private online gallery, typically within days, ready to download in full resolution and share. Each photographer's exact photo count and turnaround time is listed on their Photo Greece profile, so you know before you book.
