Late afternoon on the west coast — Porto Katsiki, Egremni and Kathisma all face west, so the cliffs light up in the last two hours and the sun sets straight into the sea in front of you. Mornings belong to the east: Nydri and its islands are calm and glassy before the day-trip boats leave. June and September are the sweet spot; in August the west-coast car parks fill by ten in the morning.

It helps a great deal. Lefkada is the one Ionian island you reach by road — a causeway and a floating bridge from the mainland, with Preveza's airport about half an hour from the town — but the good spots are spread over an hour of driving, and the west-coast beaches are down long descents. Porto Katsiki has a car park on the clifftop and a stepped path to the sand: the wide view from above needs no stairs, the beach frames do. Access at Egremni has changed since the 2015 landslide took the old stairway, so ask your photographer how it stands this season rather than assuming.

For peak-season dates — May through October, and especially Saturdays on Santorini or Mykonos — book 6-12 months ahead. The best-reviewed photographers are often the first vendors to sell out after the venue itself. Shoulder-season and weekday weddings are far more flexible; three to four months is usually comfortable. Work backwards from the moments you can't lose. An intimate ceremony with dinner fits in 4-5 hours: preparations, vows, couple portraits at golden hour, first toasts. A classic full wedding day — getting ready through the first dances — runs 8-10 hours. Greek weddings tend to run long and warm up late; if your party will peak at midnight with plate-worthy dancing, budget coverage for it or arrange a set finishing time you're at peace with. One Greece-specific tip: schedule couple portraits around sunset, not the ceremony's end — in summer that golden window is what your photographer will plan the whole timeline around. Discuss your running order with your photographer and they'll recommend honest hours, not maximum hours.
