Agios Ioannis sto Kastri, the chapel alone on its pillar of rock above the sea, the stepped lanes and slate roofs of Skopelos Chora with the church of Panagia tou Pyrgou on the sea wall, the harbour front and the ruined kastro at the top of the town, and the pine-backed coves at Panormos and Milia. On Skiathos: the Bourtzi headland in the middle of the old port, Koukounaries with its pine forest behind the sand, and Lalaria's rock arch and white pebbles, which is boat-only.

Morning at Agios Ioannis sto Kastri — the chapel faces roughly east, the platform at the top holds only a handful of people, and the tour boats and rental cars arrive from late morning onwards. Mornings are quieter; the tour boats and coaches come later in the day.

Shyness reads as delicacy in photos when nobody forces eye contact with the lens; some of the most beautiful kids' portraits are of a child absorbed in shell-collecting, unaware of the camera. Parents help most by being relaxed themselves and letting the photographer set the rhythm. The 'won't pose' kid usually refuses to leave when the session ends.
