About Paxos & Antipaxos
Paxos is about ten kilometres long, has no airport, and is reached only by boat from Corfu or Igoumenitsa — which is most of why it stays calm in August. Gaios, the capital, sits on a channel rather than an open bay: the Venetian waterfront faces the wooded islet of Panagia and its monastery across a narrow strip of green water, with small boats moored in between. Loggos, ten minutes north, is smaller still, a curve of tavernas around a harbour barely wider than a courtyard. The west coast is the opposite of all this: Erimitis is a wall of pale cliff that takes the last light head-on, one of the few places in the Ionian that faces the sunset squarely. Antipaxos, twenty minutes away by boat, holds Vrika and Voutoumi, two short beaches over water so clear that hulls appear to hang above their own shadows. Between them all lies an olive grove of a few hundred thousand trees, terraced in dry stone.

Top Photo Spots in Paxos & Antipaxos
The most photogenic locations for your Paxos & Antipaxos photoshoot
The Gaios channel and the Panagia islet
A Venetian waterfront facing a wooded islet across a strip of still green water, with boats moored down the middle of it.
Best time: Early morning, when the channel is glassy and the quay is empty of ferry traffic
Check the ferry times: for twenty minutes either side of an arrival the quay is full of cars and luggage. The stone edge has no railing and drops straight into deep water. Afternoons put the waterfront in shade — good for even light, no good for colour on the facades.
Loggos harbour
A harbour barely wider than a courtyard, ringed by tavernas and pastel houses, with a disused soap factory closing one end.
Best time: Sunrise to mid-morning, when the light comes in over the water and the quay is still empty
Park above the village and walk down; the quay road is one lane and the tavernas need it. Tables start filling around eight in the evening. The hill path behind the harbour takes ten minutes and gives the only high view.
The Erimitis cliffs at sunset
A wall of pale cliff on the west coast, dropping into deep blue water and facing the sunset square on.
Best time: The last hour of light and the blue hour after it, from the clifftop
The cliff edge is unfenced and undercut in places; keep to the worn paths. The bar fills for sunset in July and August — arrive forty minutes early for a clear frame. The descent to the beach is steep and loose, so shoes, not sandals.
Vrika and Voutoumi on Antipaxos
Two short beaches on a one-kilometre island, over water so clear that moored boats appear to hang above their own shadows.
Best time: Between nine and eleven, before the day boats from Corfu arrive
Charter a small boat or take the first water taxi — after eleven both beaches are full. No shade, no shop: bring water and cover. The ridge path from Voutoumi takes ten minutes and gives the only high frame; the pebbles at Voutoumi are hard on bare feet.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a photoshoot on Paxos cost?
Professional photoshoots on Paxos start from €279. Packages differ by duration and the number of edited photos — one to two hours, roughly €279 to €450, covers Gaios and the channel in front of the Panagia islet, or Loggos harbour and an olive terrace above it. A boat session over to Antipaxos is quoted separately, because the boat is an extra cost.
What are the best photo spots on Paxos and Antipaxos?
Gaios waterfront, with the wooded Panagia islet across the channel, is the classic opening. Loggos gives a harbour the size of a courtyard and stone quays. The Erimitis cliffs on the west coast take the sunset head-on. On Antipaxos, Vrika and Voutoumi supply the turquoise water people come for, and the terraced olive groves work all day in dappled light.
When is the best time of day and year for photos on Paxos?
Gaios and Loggos face roughly east, so they are calm and warm at sunrise and shaded by late afternoon; Erimitis is the sunset side. Antipaxos beaches look best between nine and eleven, before the day boats arrive and while the water still reads clear. May, June, September and early October give warm sea without the August crowd, and most tavernas close by November.
How do we get to Antipaxos for a beach session?
Only by boat. Day caïques leave Gaios and Loggos through the morning and return mid-afternoon, and water taxis run on demand for a fixed fare; a small hired boat buys you the beaches before the crowd lands. Vrika and Voutoumi have no road access and almost no shade at midday. Check the last return time before you plan anything near sunset.
Is the studio rental included in the price?
It depends on the photographer, and their Photo Greece profile states it explicitly — read the package description before booking. Photographers with their own studios include the space in the session price; those who rent third-party studios either build the cost in or list it as a separate line so you can choose the space tier. When comparing prices, compare the whole package: a session that looks €50 cheaper but adds studio rental on top isn't cheaper. If a quote is ambiguous, ask directly in the booking chat — 'is the studio included, and which studio is it?' — and you'll get a concrete answer with photos of the space. Address and access details arrive with your booking confirmation.
How many outfit changes are included?
The practical limit is time, not a rule: in a 60-minute studio session, two to three outfits is the sweet spot — each change costs five minutes plus a lighting adjustment, and more changes than that eat into actual shooting. For headshot sessions, bring three tops in different tones against the planned backdrop and change only from the waist up in seconds. Portfolio and branding sessions that genuinely need four or more looks should book 90 minutes or two hours; your photographer will say so honestly when you describe the goal. Studio tip: bring everything pressed and on hangers, arrive in the simplest look, and start with it — the first fifteen minutes are warm-up frames anyway, and your strongest outfit deserves your warmed-up confidence.
