Photoshoots on Chios start from €279, with one- and two-hour packages up to roughly €450 depending on duration and the number of edited images. The mastic villages are around forty minutes from Chios town, so the longer package is usually the sensible one — it pays for the drive and still leaves time for two villages rather than one.

Pyrgi, where every wall is covered in grey and white xysta patterns and the square in front of Agioi Apostoloi is the tightest frame on the island. Mesta's vaulted passages, which stay usable in the middle of the day. Anavatos, the near-empty stone village stacked on a cliff. And Mavra Volia at Emporios, black volcanic pebbles under red rock.

Early morning and the last two hours of daylight for Pyrgi and Anavatos, when low sun brings out the relief in the plaster and the stone. Mesta's covered lanes are the exception and work all day. May, June, September and October are the best months; July and August are hot, and the north wind can be strong on the coast.

Chios has flights from Athens and Thessaloniki and overnight ferries from Piraeus, so most people plan around one arrival rather than a day trip. Nea Moni is a working monastery and a UNESCO site: the courtyard and the cypress alley are the parts to shoot, modest dress is expected, and photography inside the church is usually not allowed — check on the day.

It depends on the photographer, and their Photo Greece profile states it explicitly — read the package description before booking. Photographers with their own studios include the space in the session price; those who rent third-party studios either build the cost in or list it as a separate line so you can choose the space tier. When comparing prices, compare the whole package: a session that looks €50 cheaper but adds studio rental on top isn't cheaper. If a quote is ambiguous, ask directly in the booking chat — 'is the studio included, and which studio is it?' — and you'll get a concrete answer with photos of the space. The practical limit is time, not a rule: in a 60-minute studio session, two to three outfits is the sweet spot — each change costs five minutes plus a lighting adjustment, and more changes than that eat into actual shooting. For headshot sessions, bring three tops in different tones against the planned backdrop and change only from the waist up in seconds. Portfolio and branding sessions that genuinely need four or more looks should book 90 minutes or two hours; your photographer will say so honestly when you describe the goal. Studio tip: bring everything pressed and on hangers, arrive in the simplest look, and start with it — the first fifteen minutes are warm-up frames anyway, and your strongest outfit deserves your warmed-up confidence.
