Agioi Anargyroi beach
The island's big south-west bay: a long curve of sand and pebble under a wall of pines, with clear water and a chapel on the point.
About Agioi Anargyroi beach
Get directionsAgioi Anargyroi is the beach Spetses is known for — a wide bay on the south-west coast, sand and fine pebble, backed by the pine woods that Sotirios Anargyros planted a century ago. The water shelves gently and stays clear, and there is a small chapel by the shore that gives the bay its name.
It is the natural second half of a Spetses session: town in the morning, pine and water in the afternoon. The bay faces roughly south-west, so it holds light late and the trees give shade through the middle of the day. Barefoot frames on the sand, pine trunks for depth, and a rock headland at either end.
It is a proper trip from town — about four kilometres by the coast road, or a water taxi from Dapia, which is the pleasant way and gives you boat frames on the crossing. In July and August the middle of the bay fills with sunbeds; the ends stay workable. Check the last water taxi if you are staying for sunset.
Best time to shoot
Late afternoon into sunset, when the bay keeps light and the sunbeds empty
Tips
Around four kilometres from town: water taxi from Dapia or the coast road. Sunbeds fill the middle of the bay in high season — work the ends. Check the last taxi boat before a sunset slot.
