Psili Ammos beach

Patmos is mostly pebble and rock; Psili Ammos, at the southern tip, is the exception — fine pale sand backed by tamarisk trees and low dunes, with a single taverna and no road to the beach itself. That isolation is the point: it stays empty enough for a session even in August, because getting there takes effort.

Two ways in. A caique runs from Skala in the morning and comes back in the afternoon, which fixes your window; or you drive to the car park at Diakofti and walk about twenty minutes over the headland on a rough track. Either way, plan the return before you plan the shoot.

The beach faces roughly south-west, so it holds light late and the tamarisks throw usable shade through the middle of the day. Barefoot frames on the sand, texture in the dunes, and a horizon with no buildings on it — this is the beach half of a Patmos session, with the stone and whitewash of Chora providing the other half.
