The Neratzia castle at the mouth of the palm-lined harbour, the ancient agora's columns scattered among pines a few steps from the cafés, Hippocrates' plane tree, the dunes and shallow water of Tigaki, and Zia up on the mountainside, where the whole island spreads out below at sunset.

Morning around the harbour and old town, when the light is low and the waterfront is quiet, then Zia for the last hour of sun — the village faces west and its sunset over the Aegean is the island's ritual. June and September give warm sea and gentle light without the August peak.

Kos is the most bike-friendly island in Greece — flat, compact, and laced with cycle paths from the harbour out along the coast. A session can genuinely roll: castle and agora first, then the seafront path, ending with feet in the water at Tigaki. Then the shoot becomes a game with rules the child controls — hide behind the wall and pop out, race me to that boat, show me your monster face. Shyness reads as delicacy in photos when nobody forces eye contact with the lens; some of the most beautiful kids' portraits are of a child absorbed in shell-collecting, unaware of the camera. Parents help most by being relaxed themselves and letting the photographer set the rhythm. The 'won't pose' kid usually refuses to leave when the session ends.
