Photoshoots in Delphi start from €279. That covers a short session for a couple or a small family; one- and two-hour packages run to roughly €450 and differ by duration and the number of edited photos. A longer booking usually earns its money here, because the sanctuary and the stone village of Arachova are ten minutes apart and most people want both.

The terrace of the Temple of Apollo, with its six standing columns and the olive valley dropping away to Itea; the theatre just above it, which puts the whole sanctuary in the frame; and the Tholos at Athena Pronaia, the round building with three re-erected columns and a fraction of the crowd. Add the stone lanes and mountain terraces of Arachova for the second half.

The first hour after the site opens, or the last hour before it closes. The sanctuary faces south-west, so morning light rakes across the terraces and late light warms the limestone before the mountain shadow arrives. April, May, June, September and October are the good months; July and August are hot and busy by mid-morning, and winter can put snow on Parnassus.

You need a ticket, and ordinary handheld photography for private use is allowed. Tripods, lighting, drones and anything that reads as a commercial or wedding shoot are handled differently by the Greek archaeological service and normally need written permission, so check the current rules with your photographer well before the date. Arachova's streets and the mountain viewpoints carry no such restrictions.

For peak-season dates — May through October, and especially Saturdays on Santorini or Mykonos — book 6-12 months ahead. The best-reviewed photographers are often the first vendors to sell out after the venue itself. Shoulder-season and weekday weddings are far more flexible; three to four months is usually comfortable. If your date is closer than that, don't assume it's hopeless: availability shifts, and Photo Greece can check the whole vetted roster for your date at once instead of you emailing photographers one by one. When comparing, look at full wedding galleries rather than portfolio highlights — how a photographer handles a dim taverna dinner tells you more than their best ten frames.

Work backwards from the moments you can't lose. An intimate ceremony with dinner fits in 4-5 hours: preparations, vows, couple portraits at golden hour, first toasts. A classic full wedding day — getting ready through the first dances — runs 8-10 hours. Greek weddings tend to run long and warm up late; if your party will peak at midnight with plate-worthy dancing, budget coverage for it or arrange a set finishing time you're at peace with. One Greece-specific tip: schedule couple portraits around sunset, not the ceremony's end — in summer that golden window is what your photographer will plan the whole timeline around. Discuss your running order with your photographer and they'll recommend honest hours, not maximum hours.
