The Nydri viewpoint

A pull-off on the road above Nydri looking down on a channel scattered with small green islands and crossed by sailing boats.

Sobre The Nydri viewpoint

Cómo llegar

The east coast is the calm side of Lefkada, and the road that climbs above Nydri gives it in one frame: a sheltered channel of deep blue, a scatter of wooded islets — Madouri under its mansion, Sparti, Skorpios — and the mountains of the mainland closing the background. Sailing boats cross it all afternoon, which puts movement in a landscape that otherwise sits perfectly still.

This is the morning half of a Lefkada session. The east coast catches the early light while the west is still in shadow, and the channel is glassiest before the day-trip boats leave Nydri harbour. It also gives what the west coast cannot: green. Olive and cypress run down to the water here, so the palette is not just white rock and blue sea.

Down at sea level, Nydri's quay is the departure point for the boat trips around the islands, and the waterfall walk into the hills behind the village is twenty minutes each way for a completely different, shaded frame. The viewpoint pull-offs on the road are small and the traffic moves — park fully off the road and stay in from the edge.

Consejos

Small pull-offs on a live road: park fully clear and keep back from the edge. Boats leave Nydri from mid-morning, so the glassy water is an early frame.
