Kanoni and Mouse Island

From the Kanoni terrace at the tip of the town peninsula, the view arranges itself: the tiny white Vlacherna monastery at the end of its stone causeway directly below, the round green islet of Pontikonisi — Mouse Island — floating behind it, and the open Ionian beyond. It has been Corfu's signature view since photography existed, and it still composes perfectly.

Shoot it twice. From the terrace, the elevated frame stacks monastery, islet and sea, with the couple against the railing in the foreground. Then walk down and out along the causeway itself — at water level the monastery's bell tower and whitewashed court become the set, and the islet sits across the water behind. Morning light front-lights the monastery; late afternoon backlights the islet and turns the water silver.

One honest note: Corfu airport's runway ends beside the lagoon, and aircraft come in low over the causeway. Some couples want that frame — jet over the monastery — and some want silence between landings; either way it is part of the place, so time the shots around the schedule rather than fighting it.
